$19, 900 looks like a big number, but not to God.

Yesterday at church a friend asked how fundraising was going. I shared that I was about $2500 away from my first deadline. Another friend said "It's 10 days away and she's so calm about it."

My response: I have to be. If I'm not calm about it, I'll start freaking out and try to take control. If I do that, I'll be taking the control way from God, and that just won't work.

I've always tried to control everything in my life because I think it will make me feel safe and secure. Time and time again God shows me that true freedom lies in giving the control over to Him. I learned this very quickly when I started fundraising.

I was discouraged when I didn't receive and outpouring of financial support right when I announced my commitment to the world race. My squad members encouraged me to be still (such a struggle for me). But I did it anyway. I started spending time thanking God for all of His blessings, goodness, and love. I told Him I was handing him the reigns and letting Him lead my fundraising, and boy has he come through.

I've been overwhelmed with the love and support I've received so far. Family and friends have come together to help me brainstorm, plan and run fundraisers, and cover me in prayer. I've received donations from new and old friends, anonymous donors, and a stranger on Instagram!

Above is an updated picture of my adopt-a-box fundraiser. Here's how it works:

1. Pray and ask God how he might have you support me.

2. Pick your number and donate that amount. Donations can be one-time or monthly. Monthly donations will continue to support me while I'm gone.

3. Tell me how I can specifically and intentionally pray for you!

I've already seen God work in big ways and can't wait to experience and share His glory in 11 countries! Thank you, thank you for loving and supporting me!
