18 And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. 19 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”

20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Matthew 8:18-20

I’m beginning to understand the weight of these words. In the past year, I’ve laid my head in guest rooms, hotels, hostels, tents, couches, the floor of a church, the rooms of friends, the rooms of strangers and every once in a while, my own bed.

Even birds who soar the sky and foxes who roam the land have a home to come back to at the end of the day.

Yet, I keep choosing this life.

When the scribe wanted to follow Jesus, he didn’t sugar coat. He was honest about the reality of following Him.

This morning I asked, “Jesus, how did you do it?”

I think the answer is simple: He trusted His Father. He trusted Him with EVERYTHING: a place to rest, food to eat, His well-being.

It’s not a place that makes a home, it’s the intimate connection with people. It’s the presence of Jesus. That’s why I keep choosing this life. That’s why the cost of following Jesus is worth it.

So, where will I lay my head next?

Gainesville, GA!

I’ve accepted a Semesters Summer Mentor position with Adventures in Missions. I will be training and empowering squads that will be on the field this summer. They are going to places such as Africa, Central America, North Carolina, and Guatemala.

Gen Z is a generation of pioneers. They’re doing things different. They’re recognizing at a young age that there isn’t just one path they have to take. I’m so excited to lead these groups as they discover their unique identity and how God has purposed them for the Kingdom.

Next week I’ll turn 30 and then road trip down to Georgia.

What do I feel?

Freedom.

Surrendering to God’s will has brought so much freedom to my life. That may sound a little backwards, but that’s the upside-down Kingdom for ya.

Someone who is reading this needs to hear this: It’s never too late to pivot the direction of your life.

I’ll be looking for monthly support partners as I step into this new position. If you’d like to support me, hear more about what I’ll be doing, or simply connect, please reach out!
